This Tampax redesign is part guerrilla and part concept box. The idea is to have people stumble upon it and learn more about the pink tax and how it impacts them and those they love, while also being discrete.


The final product underwent many revisions. During this process, a revelation emerged regarding the pervasive phenomenon of the ‘pink tax’ and its effects. Substantial financial implications amounting to thousands annually and exceeding $188,000 (think no student loans) over a lifetime are caused by the government's taxation, product design, and marketing strategies used.

Spotting The Difference

The Tampax tampon box is more than just a regular product. Its unique design is aimed at making consumers feel like they're purchasing something special that's worth preserving and sharing with others. The box's triangular die line is a feature that enables seamless folding, securing the box without any adhesive. This not only makes the box eco-friendly but also reduces production expenses and the overall cost of tampons. Unfortunately, the "pink tax" is a recurring problem that is still affecting people in over 21 states.

In this redesign, the decision was made to recreate a Tampax box. Unfortunately, discussions surrounding menstruation and periods still often evoke discomfort in individuals. The packaging is typically characterized by functionality and informational content, yet it lacks a general aesthetic appeal.
